Today, there are no Black saints among the 11 from the United States. It is long overdue that the Catholic church recognizes the resilience and holiness of the Black Catholic community.

The Global Gag Rule is a deadly policy that restricts and undermines reproductive healthcare and rights worldwide.

This regressive policy overrides any local jurisdiction and restricts U.S. foreign aid to organizations that provide any assistance relating to abortion care — including counseling, local advocacy, legal advice, or even referring patients to a completely separate institution where they can receive abortion care.

Instead of upholding this cruel policy, we are urging Congress to pass the Global HER Act.

The passage of the Global HER Act would effectively repeal the Global Gag Rule and allow foreign organizations using U.S. aid to provide, counsel, and advocate on behalf of the medical services patients require — including abortion. It would save lives by encouraging and empowering comprehensive reproductive healthcare, reproductive rights, and gender equity around the world.
