What We Do
Our Issues
We are a voice for the majority of Catholics who, in good conscience, disagree with the dictates of the Catholic hierarchy on matters related to abortion, contraception, gender, and religious freedom. Learn more about the issues we work on and hear from others who believe that individuals should follow their own consciences — and respect the rights of others to do the same.
Policy Positions
At Catholics for Choice, our priority is empowering people to follow their own consciences when making personal decisions, including decisions around reproductive healthcare and abortion. Unfortunately, in many cases, legal barriers prevent people from following their consciences and accessing the care they need. At CFC, we endorse key pieces of legislation that will directly impact the lived experience and material conditions of abortion seekers. We also amplify bills that support things like gender-affirming care, gender equity, LGBTQIA+ rights, immigrant healthcare, and more. The Catholic faith calls us to care for all of God’s creation, and we will always support legislation that furthers this goal.
Conscience
Conscience is the flagship publication of Catholics for Choice. Since 1974, we’ve kept close tabs on all things related to religious and reproductive freedom. We’re proud to feature writing by brilliant and audacious scholars, faith leaders, and everyday current (and former) Catholics in our biannual issues.
Pro-Choice Catholic Testimony
Since the overturn of Roe v. Wade, we’ve heard from countless Catholics and former Catholics who now feel emboldened to share their stories of faith and abortion. Now, with our new story center, we can share stories more widely — including with conflicted “March for Life” attendees through posters we hung up along their march route. You can read these stories and share your own here.
Resource Library
Our Resource Library holds information, activities, and articles to help encounter, educate, and embolden pro-choice Catholics and people of faith. You will find our 2024 Lenten series, 40 Days of Accompaniment, as well as recorded webinars and fact sheets in our Insights and Resources.
